DAWIA Certification Practice Exam

Post-award orientation centers on ensuring both parties have a shared, specific understanding of every contract requirement. After a contract is awarded, it’s crucial that the supplier and the buyer align on what must be delivered, the quality and performance standards, the schedule and milestones, how reporting and invoicing work, payment terms, and the procedures for handling changes, inspections, acceptance, and potential disputes. This mutual clarity creates a common reference point for evaluating performance, addressing questions, and resolving issues promptly, which helps prevent misinterpretations that can lead to delays or disputes later on.

While it’s possible that discussions during orientation surface potential problems, the primary purpose is establishing that precise understanding of obligations and processes. The other options describe activities more associated with different phases or aims of procurement: identifying problems is more about risk and issue management during execution; promoting competition relates to the procurement process itself rather than post-award orientation; and ensuring timely closeout concerns ending the contract, which is not the focus of orientation.
